摘要

Abstract

To assess the relationship between the variations of surface integrity induced by cutting process and the stress corrosion cracking susceptibility,slow strain rate test were performed to investigate the stress corrosion cracking behaviors of machined surfaces of 304L austenitic stainless steel in a simulated high temperature water environment,and the relationship between the surface integrity in terms of residual stress and surface defects and the fracture characteristics was analyzed.A model describing the correlation between the apparent stress intensity factor and stress corrosion cracking initiation of machined surface was presented for evaluating the synergistic influence of surface machining-induced defects and residual stress on stress corrosion cracking initiation of 304L austenitic stainless steel under high temperature water environment.Results show that the apparent stress intensity factor has a strong correlation with the time to rupture of specimens.When the stress intensity factor is greater than 0.7 MPa·m0.5,the susceptibility of machined surfaces to stress corrosion cracking increases significantly.
