Abstract

Rapid urbanization and climate change have exacerbated the urban heat is-land effect,leading to a deteriorating thermal environment in public spaces,which significantly affects citizens'mobility and efficient use of public spaces.Understand-ing how to accurately identify and optimize urban thermal risk blocks,enhance ur-ban heat adaptation and mitigation capabilities,improve the comfort and usability of public spaces,and increase block vitality is crucial for building sustainable cities and communities.This study utilizes multi-source big data,including mobile signal-ing data,remote sensing vegetation data,Baidu Street View data,infrastructure POI data,and actual measured temperatures,to construct an urban block heat risk evalua-tion index system.The study assesses thermal risks of urban blocks by evaluating thermal comfort,facility completeness,and block vitality across three dimensions,followed by a discussion of strategies to improve neighborhood heat risks in diverse scenarios.Using the city of Mengzi,a typical high-temperature city in Yunnan Prov-ince,China,as an example,the study evaluates current streets and public spaces,identifies spaces with potential heat risks,proposes suggestions to optimize the ther-mal environment of urban blocks.It advocates for the creation of a continuous"cool corridor"within urban blocks,providing new solutions for developing more comfort-able and vibrant urban blocks.
