Abstract

To understand the pyrolysis mechanism of composite waste plastics,thermogravimetric experiments were conducted on two types of composite plastics at different heating rates.The kinetic analysis of the thermogravimetric data was performed using the Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose(KAS)and Flynn-Wall-Ozawa(FWO)methods to calculate the activation energy distribution of the samples.The Malek method combined with the Coats-Redfern(C-R)method was used to determine the most suitable kinetic mechanism function for the pyrolysis process.The results show that the pyrolysis of both PE/PET and PE/PA samples occurs in two reaction steps,with the decomposition of PET and PA occurring prior to that of PE.A small amount of char is formed after the pyrolysis of the PE/PET sample.The activation energy of the PE/PET sample ranges from 221.62 kJ/mol to 280.67 kJ/mol,while that of the PE/PA sample ranges from 202.86 kJ/mol to 266.63 kJ/mol.For both types of plastic samples,the activation energy increases as the pyrolysis reaction progresses.The pyrolysis reactions of CPW1 and CPW2 conform to the R2 geometric contraction model.This study provides insights into the pyrolysis mechanism of composite plastics,determining the reaction activation energy and kinetic models,which hold significant value for the pyrolytic utilization of composite plastics.
