Abstract

In order to improve the interface strength between polyacrylonitrile(PAN)fiber and asphalt,the PAN fiber was alkali-treated with diethylenetriamine(DETA),and then surface-modified with tetraethoxysilane(TEOS)and cetyltrimethoxysilane(HDTMS)to improve the hydrophobic and oleophilic properties of PAN fiber and then foster the interface properties of the fiber and asphalt.The effects of modifying temperature,time and the quality of HDTMS on the breaking strength and hydrophobicity of PAN fibers were studied.The surface mor-phology and chemical structures of PAN fibers before and after modification were characterized through scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and fourier transform infrared spectrometer(FT-IR).The changes of interface strength between fiber and asphalt were analyzed by fiber pull-out test before and after modification.The results showed that the modification process had little effect on the breaking strength of PAN fiber.The contact angle of modified PAN fiber was the largest when 75 mg HDTMS was added at 70℃for 1 h.Compared with the original fiber,the oil absorption rate of modified PAN fiber increased by 27.0%,and the pull strength between the fiber and the asphalt matrix increased by 12.6%.
