Abstract

Teachers are the foundation of a country which is great in education.The rise of AI has raised some questions about the future development of the teaching profession,particularly in countries with well-established educational systems such as the UK.This paper analyzes the reasons behind the relatively successful development of the teacher education system in the AI era in the UK,attributing it to several factors including a comprehensive and standardized teacher education system,consistent support from organizational bodies,and active participation from diverse social institutions.Taking an in-ternational perspective,it explores the requirements for teachers in the AI era,emphasizing the need to enhance diverse pedagogical abilities,embrace va-rious teacher roles,and cultivate solid AI literacy.Drawing insights from the UK experience,the paper aims to promote the growth of teachers in the AI era in China,focusing on strengthening top-level design,establishing a robust teacher education and training system,facilitating multi-stakeholder in-volvement,promoting the development of teachers'AI literacy,emphasizing human-machine collaboration,and fostering comprehensive and professional development of teachers'abilities.These recommendations serve as valuable insights for the healthy development of China's teacher education system in the AI era.
