Preparation and Structural Characterization of Activated Carbon From Fruit Tree Branches Based on Steam Activation Method

Abstract
The utilization of forest and fruit wastes was an important part of the sustainable development of the economic forestry industry.The pyrolysis charcoal of forest and fruit wastes had high carbon content and low ash content,which was suitable for the preparation of high-value activated carbon.Taking the pyrolysis charcoal of peach wood as the raw material,the effects of steam activation temperature,flow rate,activation pressure and activation time on the iodine adsorption value,methylene blue adsorption and yield of activated carbon from peach wood were studied.The peach wood activated carbon prepared under the optimized conditions was characterized,and its micro-morphology,surface functional groups,abrasion strength,pore size characteristics and adsorption performance were analyzed.The results showed that the optimal conditions for preparing peach wood activated carbon using the steam activation process were an activation temperature of 850℃,a flow rate of 400 L/h,an activation pressure of 0.02 MPa,and an activation time of 1 h.Under these conditions,the iodine adsorption value of the activated carbon was 962.89 mg/g,the adsorption value of methylene blue was 250.58 mg/g,the specific surface area was 855.79 m2/g,the total pore volume was 0.60 cm3/g,the microporous pore volume was 0.19 cm3/g,the average pore size was 2.79 nm,and the abrasion strength was 90.64%.Fruit wood activated carbon with rich pore structure and excellent adsorption performance could be prepared by steam activation method using fruit wood as raw material.关键词
