Effect of Biomass Materials on the Yield and Quality of Sunflower in Saline-Affected Farmland

Abstract
This study investigates the effects of biomass materials on the yield and quality of edible sunflower(including palmitic acid,oleic acid,stearic acid,crude protein,linoleic acid and linolenic acid)in saline-affected farmland.The experiment was designed with three biomass treatments:no biomass material(C0),corn straw(C1),and biochar(C2),as well as three different nitrogen fertilization levels:0(N0),97.5(N1),195(N2)kg/hm²,resulting in a total of 9 treatment combinations.Yield and quality parameters(palmitic acid,oleic acid,stearic acid,crude protein,linoleic acid,linolenic acid content)were measured at sunflower maturity.The results showed that increased nitrogen application had a poditive effect on sunflower yield.Among the three biomass treatments,the sunflower yield followed the order of N1>N2>N0.Specially,the highest yields were observed in the treatments with added corn straw and nitrogen fertilization(C1N1 and C1N2),reaching 5 179 kg/hm² and 5 113 kg/hm²,respectively,over the two years of testing.In the nitrogen-reduced treatments,the yield of sunflower was ranked C1>C2>C0.The contents of stearic acid and oleic acid were lower in the biochar treatment,with values of 5.57%and 16.11%,respectively.Compared with the corn straw treatment and no biomass treatments,the biochar treatment significantly reduced the contents of stearic acid and oleic acid by 12.4%and 25.1%,respectively.The highest crude protein content was observed in the corn straw treatment,reaching 4.87%.The protein content was significantly increased by 23.7%and 3.2%,respectively,in the corn straw and biochar treatments compared to the no biomass treatment.The biochar treatment had the highest linoleic acid content at 70.84%,with the content ranking as C2N1>C0N1>C1N1.The lowest linoleic acid was observed in the biochar treatment,at 0.28%.These findings suggest that the application of biomass materials play an important role in improving salinized soils and promoting agricultural production,highlighting their significant potential for agricultural development.关键词
