Abstract

The aim of the experiment was to investigate the allelopathic effect of aqueous extracts of Populus talassica×P.euphratica on seed germination of recipient plants as well as its effect on chlorophyll content,dry weight,fresh weight and plant height.Aqueous extracts of roots,stems and leaves(0.020,0.035,0.050 g/mL)were prepared by aqueous extraction method,using Populus talassica×P.euphratica as the donor material and Hordeum bogdanii and Dactylis glomerata L.as the recipient materials,with sterile distilled water as the control(CK).The results showed that the Populus talassica×P.euphratica aqueous extracts inhibited both seed germination and seedling growth of the recipient plants,significantly inhibited the germination rate,biomass(dry and fresh weight),plant height and chlorophyll content of these two grasses(P<0.05),and with the increase of the concentration of the aqueous extracts,its inhibitory effect on germination rate of the recipient seeds,radicle length and embryo length was strengthened.The study indicates that,Populus talassica×P.euphratica extract had the strongest inhibitory effect on Dactylis glomerata L.seed germination,while it was the weakest on Hordeum bogdanii with endophytic fungi.Therefore,Hordeum bogdanii with endophytic fungi is more suitable for growing around dense Populus talassica×P.euphratica forests.
