Abstract
Objective:To explore potential categories of advance care planning(ACP)engagement in advanced cancer patients and their relationship with attitudes towards death.Methods:360 patients with advanced cancer who attended three tertiary grade A hospitals in Urumqi and Shihezi cities of Xinjiang from February to September 2023 were selected as the study subjects,and a general information questionnaire,Chinese version of the Advance Care Planning Engagement Questionnaire(ACPES)and the Death Attitude Profile-Revised(DAP-R)were used for the survey.Potential profiling analysis was performed on the scores of the dimensions of Advance Care Planning Engagement Survey for advanced cancer patients,and differences in demographic variables and death attitudes among different categories of patients were compared by univariate analysis of variance and binary logistic regression.Results:The category of ACP engagement in patients with advanced cancer can be divided into 2 categories:resting on their laurels(52.8% )and active participation(47.2% ).Factors influencing ACP engagement included disease duration,literacy level,disease severity,experience of making medical decisions for others and fear of death(P<0.05).Conclusion:There are 2 potential categories of ACP engagement in patients with advanced cancer,which are resting on their laurels and active participation,and they are closely related to attitudes towards death.Healthcare professionals should develop individualised interventions based on the characteristics of patients with different profiles in order to improve the level of ACP engagement in patients with advanced cancer.关键词
