Metabolomics Analysis and Allelopathic Potential Determination of Casuarina equisetifolia Infected by Two Strains of Endophytic Bacteria

Abstract

To investigate whether endophytic bacteria in Casuarina equisetifolia participate in the regulation of host metabolism and allelopathy,the study used isolated endophytic bacteria Bacillus aryabhattai XAG3 and Bacillus amyloliquefaciens XYG6 from the roots of Casuarina equisetifolia to infect Casuarina equisetifolia seedlings.Non-targeted metabolomics was used to analyze the differences in metabolites/pathways between infected and sterile seedlings,and the allelopathic potential of the differential metabolites was determined.Metabolome analysis showed that Naringenin,(-)-Catechin gallate and Kaempferol-3-Glucuronide were down-regulated in Casuarina equisetifolia seedlings after infection with XAG3 and XYG6.The determination of allelopathic potential showed that Naringenin,(-)-Catechin gallate and Kaempferol-3-Glucuronide could inhibit the germination of Casuarina equisetifolia seeds.Endophytic bacteria XAG3 and XYG6 can regulate the types and contents of secondary metabolites in Casuarina equisetifolia through pathways such as isoflavone biosynthesis,flavonoid biosynthesis,and phenolic metabolism,thereby alleviating host allelopathy and promoting the self-renewal of Casuarina equisetifolia.
