Abstract

To study the stress response mechanisms in the gill tissues of Thamnaconus septentrionalis under hy-poxic stress,treatments on fish were conducted under varying levels of dissolved oxygen concentration(8 mg/L,5 mg/L,and 2 mg/L),the 8 mg/L group is the control group,and the other 2 groups are hypoxia group.and the changes of enzyme activities in the gill tissues were analyzed.The results indicated that the activities of catalase(CAT),superoxide dismutase(SOD),and the total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC)in the gill tissues of T.sep-tentrionalis increased in response to the decrease of dissolved oxygen,while the content of malondialdehyde(MDA)was lower compared to the control.The activity of lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)increased with the de-crease of dissolved oxygen concentration.The activity of acid phosphatase(ACP)initially increased and then de-creased with the decline in dissolved oxygen concentration,while the alkaline phosphatase(AKP)activity exhibi-ted an upward trend.The results indicated that hypoxia-induced stress was found to have an impact on the activities of antioxidant enzymes,respiration-related enzymes,and phosphatase in the gill tissues of T.septentrionalis.During hypoxia stress,T.septentrionalis demonstrates the ability to activate its internal antioxidant defense system through the regulation of antioxidant enzyme activity,so as to protect the body from oxidative damage caused by hy-poxia,which provides a certain theoretical basis for further investigation of T.septentrionalis'hypoxia adaptation mechanism and the determination of optimal dissolved oxygen levels in the culture process.
