Extending the economic exploitation of condensate gas wells by deploying and retrieving of CO2-resistant downhole choke devices

Abstract
The production of high-carbon dioxide condensate gas wells with downhole throttling devices can cause tool failure and shutdown production.Carbon-dioxide-resistant throttling devices can extend the economic recovery period of condensate gas wells.This study systematically analyzed the carbon dioxide corrosion mechanism which has been widely studied in the academic field for a long time and conducted research statistics based on the mechanism of carbon dioxide erosion in gas wells,a key investigation,statistics,and systematic analysis were conducted on hundreds of cases of downhole throttling device failure in engineering field applications.Through indoor mechanical performance experiments on nine types of downhole throttling device rubber seals,a new sealing material based on modified hydrogenated nitrile rubber was determined among 14 rubber formulas based on on-site downhole experiments.Simultaneously,the conventional design of downhole throttling devices was changed to an easy-to-throw structure,and the anti-nozzle added a stretchable pulley structure.The results showed that the improved carbon dioxide resistant throttling device applied a modified hydrogenated nitrile rubber material to make the sealing element of the downhole throttling device have good resistance to carbon dioxide corrosion and thermal expansion.At the same time,a slotted design is added to the tail of the central rod,a steel inner sleeve was added to the upper cup,and a snap spring design is added at the corresponding position.A release snap spring was added to the slip,and the new structure facilitated the operation of the downhole throttling device.After the successful application of this throttling technology in the experimental well,it was continuously produced for more than 120 days.The successful application of carbon dioxide resistant downhole throttling technology ensures the long-term sustainable development of high carbon dioxide condensate gas fields.关键词
