Abstract
Objective To characterize the development of fundus vasculature in preterm infants with albinism(ALB).Methods From October 2007 to January 2023,41(82 eyes)of 12876 premature infants who underwent retinopathy of prematurity(ROP)screening at the Children's Hospital of Hebei Province were included in the study.The general conditions,fundus manifestations and laboratory test results of the children were collected and analyzed.Results Among the 41 ALB infants,28(56 eyes)were male and 13(26 eyes)were female,with a mean gestation age of 32.80±1.86(28～36)weeks and mean birth weight of 1847.80±390.68(910～2710)grams.Thirty-four children had oculocutaneous ALB,6 had ocular ALB,and 1 had ALB-related syndrome.All infants had fully developed fundus vascula-ture at the corrected gestational age of 38 weeks,and two infants had stage 1 ROP.Conclusions The incidence of ROP is lower in preterm infants with ALB under the same influencing factors.Retinal pigment epithelial detachment reduces the pro-duction of vascular endothelial growth factor,which in turn lowers the risk of proliferative vascular lesions in the fundus.关键词
