Smart Manufacturing and Enterprise Resilience:Mechanisms and Effects

Abstract
In the face of the great change that has not been seen in a hundred years,improving resilience is the key ability needed for enterprises to cope with crises and grow against the trend.Based on the data of A-share listed companies in the manufacturing industry from 2010 to 2022,a quasi-natural experiment is conducted based on the smart manufacturing industrial policy,and the double differ-ence method is utilized to test the impact of smart manufacturing on enterprise resilience.It is found that smart manufacturing signifi-cantly improves enterprise resilience.The mechanism test indicates that smart manufacturing improves enterprise resilience mainly through two channels,namely,promoting diversified supply chain allocation and optimizing supply and demand matching.Heterogenei-ty analysis shows that the impact of smart manufacturing on enterprise resilience is more significant for non-state-owned enterprises,enterprises with lower levels of internal control,enterprises with higher levels of digitization,as well as regions with higher levels of digital infrastructure construction and higher levels of marketization.Extended analysis finds that smart manufacturing has positive eco-nomic consequences for enterprise development and can improve enterprise economic performance.关键词
