The Influence of Region and Variety Interaction on Tobacco Quality in Southern Anhui Province

Abstract
[Objective]To further explore and quantify the impact of region and variety on tobacco quality.[Method]The appearance,chemi-cal composition and sensory quality of the middle and upper leaves of flue-cured tobacco between different tobacco regions and varieties were compared in southern Anhui systematically.A two factor analysis of variance was conducted.The correlation analysis was also conducted on the main chemical components and sensory characteristics of tobacco leaves.[Result]The appearance quality of the middle and upper leaves was the best in region C and Yunyan 87,and the interaction between tobacco area and variety had significant effects on the appearance quality of tobacco leaves.The chemical composition of the middle leaves was relatively balanced among different regions and varieties,while the qual-ity of the upper leaves varied.Region C had a higher content of total sugar and reducing sugar,while Yunyan 97 had a higher content of nico-tine.Through two-factor ANOVA,it was found that Cl-and total nitrogen were more affected by region,while K+was more affected by varie-ty.The sensory quality of tobacco in region C performed the best,while there was no significant difference among different varieties.The rela-tive contributions of areas to the leaf sensory quality was relatively high,while varieties had relatively less impact on them.Region's contribu-tion to the sensory quality of B2F tobacco was also significantly higher than variety.The aroma characteristics of tobacco were significantly pos-itively correlated with total sugar,nitrogen nicotine ratio,and the difference between the total sugar and reducing sugar.The taste characteris-tics were negatively correlated with nicotine,but significantly positively correlated with total sugar,nitrogen nicotine ratio,and difference be-tween total sugar and reducing sugar.[Conclusion]The appearance quality of tobacco leaves was significantly influenced by the interaction be-tween regions and varieties,and the regional effect had a significantly higher impact on sensory and some chemical components than varieties.For the first time,quantitative data on the degree of influence of regions and varieties on different characteristics of tobacco leaves was provid-ed.The research results provided a quantitative evaluation of the impact of region and variety on tobacco quality,and provided a theoretical basis for the regulation of various indicators of tobacco appearance,chemistry and sensory quality.关键词
