Abstract
Aluminum mesh shell has the advantages of lightweight,high strength,and corrosion resistance,which can reduce VOCs emissions from external floating roof storage tanks.But when the concentration of oil and gas in the tank reaches the explosive limit and encounters ignition sources such as lightning,an explosion accident may occur.The LS-DYNA finite element analysis software was used to analyze the combustion and ex-plosion characteristics of aluminum mesh shell storage tanks.The results showed that the ventilation gap be-tween the top central vent and the bottom edge of the aluminum mesh shell can release some of the explosion pressure.Under the action of explosive shock waves,the stress from top to bottom reached its maximum peak value(357 MPa)and rapidly decayed.The maximum stress was greater than the tensile strength of aluminum(180 MPa),and the aluminum mesh shell was damaged,playing a role in explosion venting.The explosion shock wave came into contact with the tank wall and propagated downwards along the inner wall.The stress at each point reached its peak value(300 MPa),but was lower than the tensile strength of carbon steel(375~460 MPa).Local deformation occured at the corresponding position of the tank wall,but it remained intact un-der the explosion.The weak roof performance of aluminum mesh shell was of great significance for protecting the tank body and preventing the leakage of storage medium.关键词
