Discussion on"sinew flaccidity"in erectile dysfunction from the perspective of the"meridian sinews"theory

Abstract
"Meridian sinews"refer to the muscle and flesh system in human body accompanied by twelve main meridians.Modern research suggests that the"meridian sinews"contain muscles,fascia,ligaments,and other tissues that are involved in building a complete physical system.Sinew flaccidity,or jinwei,included erectile dysfunction(ED)and other flaccidities in the past,while currently it is primarily used for ED.However,both of them were closely related to the the concept of sinews.The"meridian sinews"theory is the classic theoretical branch of meridian theory in Traditional Chinese Medicine,but the relationship between ED and sinew flaccidity has not yet been sufficiently explored based on this theory.In this study,from the perspective of the"meridian sinews"theory,we discussed the connection between genitals and"meridian sinews"on the basis of anatomy,and further investigated the relationship between ED and sinew flaccidity.It was concluded that sinew flaccidity in ED belonged to the flaccidity of all sinews,which was closely associated with"meridian sinews"Theory.Moreover,the pathogenesis of ED was also discussed from perspectives of lack of nourishment of meridians and sinews,obstruction of sinew junctions,and contraction failure of fascia.In a word,this study broadened the thoughts in differentiation and treatment of ED using the"meridian sinews"theory.关键词
