Abstract

Caisson prefabrication and barge transport are the important steps in the construction of gravity dock.Based on a newly built dock project in Guangdong Maoming port,to reduce the risks of caisson barge transport and construction caused by a high center of gravity,the caisson construction technology was optimized on the basis of local conditions.A plan was proposed,which reduced the prefabrication height of caissons and then carried out the field cast-in-place connection of caissons in order to minimize the risks of caisson construction and barge transport.The application of the above technical solution decreased the gravity center of the largest caisson from 11.31 m to 9.17 m,with a decline of up to 18.9%,which played an important role in the reduction of construction risks,solved the technical difficulties in caisson construction and barge transport.The results verify the plan safe,effective,and applicable,which can serve as a reference for similar projects.
