Abstract

TPU/HM-531 hydrophilic modified blends were prepared by melt blending with HM-531 as a hydrophilic modifier for TPU.The hydrophilicity and cytotoxicity of the blends were investigated.As the content of HM-531 content increases,the contact angle of the blends gradually decreases.They are 37.89° and 26.59° respectively for blend with 2.5%and 7.5%content of HM-531,indicating a good hydrophilic modification effect.The blends with HM-531 content ranging from 2.5%to 7.5%showed no cytotoxicity with a relative cell growth rate of ≥90%after 1 day,3 days,and 5 days of cultivation.When the extraction solution of the experimental blend group was diluted 50 times,most of the cells were observed to be spindle shaped and in good growth state under the microscope.The fluorescence detection of live/dead cells showed that the majority of cells showed green color and only a few cells showed red color,which shows no significant difference compared to the negative control.Blends with excellent hydrophilicity and good biocompatibility can be prepared by adding 2.5%~7.5%HM-531 to TPU.
