The Influence of Sunlight on the Tensile Properties and Microstructure of Polyethylene Pipes for Gaseous Fuels

Abstract
The tensile properties and microstructure changes of polyethylene pipes for gaseous fuels after sunlight aging were studied through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis,differential scanning calorimetry,and determination of tensile properties.The results showed that polyethylene pipes for gaseous fuels absorbed solar radiation,accelerated reactions such as chain breakage and oxidation,and generated unsaturated double bonds and oxygen-containing groups such as carbonyl and hydroxyl groups.In addition,due to diffusion limited oxidation,the oxidation induction time for surface of pipes exposed to sunlight decreased the fastest,and the fracture elongation of pipes exposed to sunlight decreased the most severely,with little change in tensile yield stress.关键词
