Abstract

The phenomenon of"gas cloud"is quite common in seismic data of Bohai Bay.When seismic longitudinal waves pass through gas cloud zones,scattering effects occur,leading to blurry imaging of seis-mic data,weak amplitude,chaotic reflections,and other phenomena,which pose difficulties for structural interpretation and reservoir prediction in gas cloud zones.Due to the fact that shear waves only propagate within the rock skeleton and are not affected by fluids,converted wave seismic data can effectively improve the problem of blurry imaging in gas cloud zones.This article selects the gas cloud zone of a certain oilfield in the Bohai Bay Basin,and conducts a series of research work using converted wave seismic data.Through the research and application of converted wave well seismic calibration,converted wave seismic data inter-pretation,converted wave time depth conversion and other technologies,the geological structure of the gas cloud zone is studied using converted waves,fully exploring the application potential of converted wave seis-mic data.The application results show that converted waves can effectively implement the"gas cloud zone"structure,improve the success rate of drilling,and provide technical support for oil and gas exploration and development in gas cloud zones.
