Abstract

The third member of Dongying Formation(E3d3)in Bohai Bay Basin is a unique hydrocarbon source layer of Bohai Sea which belongs to medium or good lacustrine source rock.To study the hydrocarbon generation and expulsion characteristics,a set of semi-open system hydrocarbon generation and expulsion simulation experiments are carried with the E3d3 dark mudstone of Ⅱ 1 type and low-mature with TOC con-tent.Based on its thermal and burial history,a semi-open system simulation experiment for hydrocarbon generation and expulsion was designed and implemented.The results indicate that the Dongying Formation in the Bozhong Sag has a large scale of source rocks and high organic matter maturity.The liquid hydrocar-bons in the source have good fluidity,sufficient formation pressure,and high hydrocarbon expulsion effi-ciency.It is concluded that the E3d3 lacustrine mudstones of the Bohai Sea have the characteristics of"oil generating and retaining"in the low-middle maturity stage and"gas producing and oil expulsing"in the medium-high maturity stage.Mature evolution has a great impact on hydrocarbon generation,hydrocarbon expulsion and hydrocarbon retention characteristics of the E3d3 mudstone,which is the key factor for the ef-fective hydrocarbon supply of the Dongying Formation.A hydrocarbon generation,expulsion,and retention evolution model was proposed for the equivalent maturity range of 0.51%~1.89%of lacustrine mudstone in E3d3,which provides experimental reference for the research on the effective hydrocarbon supply,hydro-carbon retention and hydrocarbon conversion of the ultra-deep and highly evolved source rocks in the E3d3 formation of the Bozhong Sag,and also lays a foundation for resource potential evaluation of lacustrine mud-stone of Dongying Formation in Bohai Sea.
