Role of Standardized Infection Prevention and Control Measures in Reducing Surgical Site Infection

Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the effectiveness of standardized infection prevention and control measures in reducing the incidence of surgical site infection(SSI).Methods:A prospective intervention study was conducted in the First People's Hospital of Baiyin,Gansu Province from January 2022 to January 2024 for a period of 2 years.Among them,the first year was the baseline period,and the incidence of SSI and the hand hygiene compliance rate of healthcare workers were recorded without additional infection prevention and control measures.The second year was the intervention period,during which a standardized infection prevention and control protocol was strictly implemented.Clinical data were collected from all patients who underwent surgery and the incidence of SSI was monitored throughout the study.Results:A total of 1,200 surgeries were performed during the baseline period,and 60 cases of SSI were recorded,with an SSI incidence of 5%.The average hand hygiene compliance rate was 60%.The same number of operations were performed during the intervention period,and the number of SSI cases decreased to 30,and the incidence of SSI was significantly reduced to 2.5%(P＜0.05).Meanwhile,hand hygiene compliance rate was increased to 85%(P＜0.05).Conclusion:Implementation of standardized infection prevention and control measures can significantly reduce surgical site infection and further reduce the risk of SSI and other types of nosocomial infections.关键词
