Abstract

In order to select high-yield and high-quality alfalfa varieties suitable for arid and salt-alkali areas in North-west region of Liaoning province,field experiments were conducted in Fuxin(drought area)and Kangping(salt-alkali area)regions respectively.The performance and nutritional value of 11 alfalfa varieties were compared and analyzed,and the correlation analysis and grey correlation analysis were used for comprehensive evaluation.The results showed that there were obvious differences in the production performance and nutritional value of different varieties tested in the two regions.In Fuxin area,hay yields of Aohan and Empress alfalfa were higher,at 0.38 kg/m2 and 0.36 kg/m2 re-spectively;crude fat and nitrogen free extract contents of Aohan alfalfa were higher,at 1.55%and 59.98%respectively,and crude ash content of Empress alfalfa was lower,at 9.58%;Aohan and Empress alfalfa ranked first and second re-spectively in their comprehensive evaluation,indicating that they were the most adaptable to the local arid environ-ment.In Kangping area,hay yields of Aohan and wl343 alfalfa were higher,with 0.35 kg/m2 and 0.34 kg/m2,respec-tively;crude fat and crude ash contents of Aohan alfalfa were higher,with 2.94%and 59.90%,respectively;and crude protein content of wl343 alfalfa was higher,with 17.76%;the comprehensive evaluation of Aohan and wl343 alfalfa ranked first and second respectively,indicating that they were the most adaptable to the local saline alkali environment.
