Abstract
Canthaxanthin,a widely distributed carotenoid in nature,particularly abundant in mushrooms and algae,possesses multiple biological functions such as coloring,antioxidation,and anti-inflammation,making it one of the commonly used colorants in animal feed.However,relatively few comprehensive reviews have been conducted on the research of canthaxanthin in animal production.This paper summarizes the sources,physicochemical properties,absorption metabolism,physiological functions,and applications of canthaxanthin in animal production,reviewing the current status of research regarding canthaxanthin in poultry and aquatic animals,as well as identifying existing issues.The objective is to provide references for the development and application of canthaxanthin as a feed additive.关键词
