The degree of skills mismatch is increasing in ASEAN member states for a variety of reasons,such as shifting demands in the labor market,inflexibility in school-based vocational education,and a lack of upskilling and reskilling of the workforce.ASEAN has improved the governance of vocational education to tackle this issue.ASEAN vocational education governance approaches for addressing skills mismatch include adopting a strategic stance for upskilling and reskilling,organizing the ASEAN TVET Council,building a market-driven vocational education curriculum,and establishing an inclusive and sustainable digital skills training system.ASEAN governance on vocational education targets regional human resource development,with a particular focus on strengthening member nations'capacity for vocational education and implementing governance that is assisted by international cooperation projects in the area.
