Preparation and thermal stability of AlH3@NiF2 and its effect on curing property of solid propellant

Abstract
Aluminum hydride(AlH3)is an efficient hydrogen storage material and has significant application potential in solid propellant.Because of its inherent thermal instability and hydrogen desorption,directly applying AlH3 into solid propellant would de-teriorate the performance of propellant.Aiming at the problem of thermally unstable hydrogen release of AlH3,a new method of sur-face inorganic coating treatment to improve the thermal stability of AlH3 was proposed.In this method,nickel fluoride(NiF2)disper-sion was used as inorganic surface treatment agent,and then AlH3@NiF2 material with surface inorganic coating was prepared through the reaction of NiF2 with Al(OH)3 and Al2O3 on the surface of AlH3 to form a dense inorganic core-shell structure in situ on the surface of AlH3.The morphology and composition of AlH3@NiF2 were characterized thoroughly by SEM,XPS,ICP analysis methods,and the thermal stability was demonstrated by means of TG-DSC and VST analysis methods.The results show that the fluor-ide and nickel compounds exist on the AlH3@NiF2 surface layer,and Ni content can reach 3%;the thermal decomposition tempera-ture of AlH3@NiF2 increase by 3℃compared to AlH3,and the hydrogen desorption reduces from 0.133%to 0.046%at 50℃for 10 days.Moreover,the porosity of propellant block with AlH3@NiF2 is obviously reduced,and the curing property of propellant is obviously improved.关键词
