Abstract

In order to improve the seawater corrosion resistance of traditional cement mortar,this study uses nano-metakaolin to improve the early-age physical and mechanical properties of cement mortar.Through simulated seawater tests,the appearance and bending/compressive strength changes of nano-metakaolin cement mortar at early age under the condition of dry and wet cycles are analyzed,and the scanning electron microscope and thermogravimetric analysis are combined to reveal the mechanism of performance variation.The results showed that nano-metakaolin can effectively promote hydration of cement at early age.With a 1%addition of nano-metakaolin,the flexural and compressive strengths at 7 days of age increased by 10.38%and 4.41%,respectively,compared to ordinary cement mortar.When the addition is in the range of 1%~5%,under the dry-wet cycle and the coupled effect of chloride and sulfate erosion,the nano-metakaolin can effectively reduce the damage of harmful ions to cement mortar,showing a clear the corrosion inhibition effect.Addition of nano-metakaolin increased the amount of hydration products,filled the micro-cracks and micro-pores,and improved the overall compactness of microstructures.
