Abstract
In the early stages of the Liberation War,the Central Committee of the CPC assigned the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region the task of seizing the"three roads and four cities".Based on this task, the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Region, together with the Shanxi-Suiyuan Region,formu-lated a campaign deployment to first attack northern Shanxi, then Datong, and finally Pinghan.With-out fully preparing before the war,the battle rushed forward and the People's Liberation Army faced off against the Kuomintang defenders in Datong. At this time, the Kuomintang Army's 12th Theater Com-mand sent reinforcements from the east of Suiyuan, while the People s Liberation Army divided its forces to block them. They also missed a opportunity for combat under Jining City, ultimately resulting in the failure to achieve the campaign objectives.During this period, the military strategic policies of the Central Committee of the CPC were still undergoing dynamic adjustments, and the People's Libera-tion Army was also undergoing a transition from guerrilla warfare to regular warfare, which was one of the main reasons for the defeats in the battles of Datong and Jining.关键词
