Control Strategy of Torque Ripple Suppression for Consequent-pole Permanent Magnet Machines

Abstract
The air gap flux density of the consequent pole permanent magnet(CPPM)machine is asymmetric under each pair of poles.Under the specific pole-slot coordination,the back electromotive force(EMF)will further appear 2nd and 4th even harmonics,which will cause additional torque ripple and adversely affect the output performance.In this paper,a torque ripple suppression strategy based on multi-harmonic current injection is proposed.A general analytical model of torque ripple suitable for any order of back-EMF harmonics is derived.Based on this model,the theoretical basis for utilizing harmonic currents to suppress torque pulsations is given.A methodology is introduced to inject multiple harmonic currents in the synchronous rotating coordinate system to mitigate the 3rd,6th,and 12th harmonic torque pulsations induced by 2nd,4th,5th,7th,11th,and 13th harmonic back EMF.Furthermore,a quasi-proportional resonant controller(PRC)is employed to ensure controlled harmonic current tracking.The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through torque ripple suppression experiments of 9/10 CPPM machine under different operating conditions.关键词
