Systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials of recombinant bovine basic fibroblast growth factor in the treatment diabetic foot ulcers

Abstract
Objective:To systematically review the published randomized controlled trials of recombinant bovine basic fibroblast growth factor(rb-bFGF)in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers to clarify its efficacy and safety in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers.Methods:A comprehensive search of the following Chinese and English databases:Medline,EMBASE,Cochrane Clinical Trial Registry(CENTRAL),China Biomedical Literature Database(CBM),China Journal Full-Text Database(CNKI),China Science and Technology Journal Full-Text Database(VIP),Wanfang Database.Self-reported randomized controlled trials of rb-bFGF in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers published between January 1995 and July 2024 were searched.Baseline data were extracted and the literature quality was assessed using the Cochrane Collaborative Network bias risk assessment criteria.The combination of continuity variables is expressed as weighted mean difference(WMD)or standard mean difference(SMD),and the combination of bitaxonomic variables is expressed as relative risk(RR),and 95％confidence intervals(CI)are calculated.The results were graded with evidence using the methods recommended by the Grading of Recommendations Assessment,Development and Evaluation(GRADE)guidelines.Results:Finally,16 articles were included,with a total of 1 111 patients.rb-bFGF could increase the cure rate of diabetic foot ulcer compared with the control group(RR=1.41;95CI:1.31 to 1.52)and shorten the ulcer healing time(WMD=-10.74;95％CI:-13.43 to-8.05).The GRADE ratings were medium grade evidence.Conclusions:Moderate-level evidence supports that rb-bFGF alone or in combination can improve the cure rate and shorten the healing time of diabetic foot ulcers.关键词
