Abstract
The sustainability of water resources in Liaoyang City are evaluated by calculating water ecological footprint, carrying capacity, ecological profit-loss ratio, and pressure indices across municipal and county-level jurisdictions from 2011 to 2020.The analysis encompasses temporal patterns of water resource utilization, sustainability assessment, and identification of key influencing factors with corresponding mitigation strategies. The results indicated that an annual water resource ecological footprint fluctuating between 1.5 and 1.8 million hectares, demonstrating a consistent downward trajectory. While agricultural consumption maintained dominance albeit with a marginal decline in its proportion,ecological-purpose water allocation exhibited progressive expansion. The carrying capacity displayed significant correlation with precipitation variability, whereas regional economic growth exhibited discordance with aquatic ecological thresholds.Severe water resource deficits and critical sustainability challenges were identified, particularly in urban clusters and Dengta County.Through stringent water resource management, optimal allocation,water-saving initiatives, and promotion of efficient water use,the ecological footprint per 10,000 yuan of GDP decreased.关键词
