Abstract
Different vegetation types exhibit varying rates of evapotranspiration,which significantly influences the magnitude of runoff within a watershed.Historically,experimental studies have shown that among various vegetation types,the rate of evapotranspiration follows this order:broad-leaved forest>mixed forest>coniferous forest>shrub forest.Utilizing precipitation data from three rain gauge stations and runoff data from the Zhenlong Hydrological Station located in the upper reaches of Longjiang Town,a tributary of the Yujiang River,the study analyzes water balance and employs statistical methods.It concludes that average runoff decreased by 15.4%following the introduction of eucalyptus plantations compared to the original vegetation(a mix of mixed forests and shrublands).The primary reason for this decrease in runoff is that eucalyptus,being a broad-leaved species,exhibits higher evapotranspiration rates than mixed forests and shrublands.Given that water resource scarcity has become a critical constraint for sustainable development in China,it is essential to assess the impact of extensive eucalyptus cultivation on local water resources.关键词
