Study on ultrasonic assisted water extraction of natural dyes from Sapium sebiferum leaves and their dyeing properties on silk

Abstract
When using water as a solvent to extract natural dyes,several challenges arise,including low extrac-tion efficiency,reduced yield,and high solvent consumption.Ultrasonic-assisted extraction technology is widely acknowledged as an environmentally friendly and efficient method that can significantly enhance mass transfer rates and disrupt cell wall structures,thereby effectively increase product yields.Sapium sebiferum leaves,a type of agricultural waste,are not only abundant but also rich in various bioactive compounds.Natural dyes were extracted from Sapium sebiferum leaves using ultrasonic-assisted water extraction,followed by sustain-able dyeing of silk fabric.The extraction process for obtaining high concentrations of Sapium sebiferum leaves dye involved the following parameters:solid-liquid ratio of 1:10,extraction time of 45 min,extraction tempera-ture of 75℃,and ultrasonic power of 600 W.At the same time,the silk fabric was dyed with Sapium sebiferum leaves extract.The dyeing conditions of high K/S value were as follows:dyeing temperature of 95 oC,dyeing time of 75 min,pH=5.0.Finally,six mordants,which were tannic acid,potassium aluminum sulfate,magnesium chloride,ferrous sulfate,ferric sulfate and calcium chloride,were used to compare the color characteristic val-ues and fastness changes of silk fabrics under four dyeing methods:direct,pre-mordanting,meta-mordanting and post-mordanting.The results show that the K/S can be improved significantly by using the pre-mordanting dyeing method.Aluminum ions can significantly enhance the color of the dyed silk,resulting in a bright yellow appearance,while ferrous ions and iron ions as mordant can make the fabric appear gray and black.Compared with the direct dyeing silk fabric,the fastness of silk after using aluminum potassium sulfate and ferrous sulfate pre-mordanting can be improved by about one level.关键词
