Abstract
Retarder is an important chemical additive that delays the hydration of cement and maintains the plasticity of concrete for a longer period of time.This article investigates the effects of three inexpensive and common retarders,namely white sugar,sodium gluconate,and so-dium citrate,on the workability and setting time of concrete.The experimental results show that the appropriate dosage of retarder is beneficial for the long-term maintenance of concrete construction performance.The retarder effect is ranked from high to low as follows:white sugar,so-dium citrate,and sodium gluconate.The setting time can be extended by 2 to 50 hours,but an excessively long retarder time will significantly affect the compressive strength of the concrete.The minimum compressive strength at 28 days is only about 30%of the benchmark sample,Re-search has also found that the appropriate use of retarders can improve the resistance of concrete to chloride ion penetration and carbonation to a certain extent.关键词
