Clinical effect of In Situ Onlay bone grafting on bone augmentation of three different forms of defective alveo-lar ridge in maxillary anterior region

Abstract
Objective:To explore the effect of In Situ Onlay bone grafting on bone augmentation of three different forms of alveolar ridge defects in maxillary anterior region.Methods:From December 2020 to December 2023,102 patients with alveolar ridge defects of different forms[mixed defect(group A,n=36),width defect(group B,n=32),height defect(group C,n=34)]who met the inclusion criteria were selected.In Situ Onlay bone grafting was used to reconstruct the defec-tive alveolar ridge.The pain score within 24 hours after surgery,volume of bone augmentation,width and height of alveolar ridge(crown,middle and root)and absorption rate of alveolar bone at 6 months after surgery were compared among the three groups.Results:At 24 hours after surgery,the pain score in the three groups was decreased significantly compared with that at 1 hour after surgery,and the pain score in group B at 1 hour after surgery was lower than that in group A and group C,and the score at 24 hours after surgery in group A and group B was lower than that in group C(P＜0.05).At 6 months after surgery,the bone augmentation volume was higher in groups B and C than that in group A,and was higher in group C than that in group B(P＜0.05).However,there were no statistical differences in the heights of crown,middle and root alveolar ridge and the widths of middle and root horizontal alveolar ridge among the three groups(P＞0.05),and the width of crown alveolar ridge in group C was lower than that in groups A and B(P＜0.05).The alveolar bone absorption rate in group C at 6 months after surgery was higher than that in group A and group B,and was higher in group B than that in group A(P＜0.05).There was no significant difference in incidence of complications among the three groups(P＞0.05).Conclusion:After In Situ On-lay bone grafting,the height defect of alveolar ridge will lead to large coronal horizontal bone resorption.Therefore,when the height of alveolar ridge is insufficient,it should be carefully considered whether to use this bone grafting as a bone augmenta-tion method.The patients with mixed defect type of alveolar ridge defect have the most significant effect on the increase of bone mass and the improvement of alveolar ridge morphology after In Situ Onlay bone grafting,and the patients with width de-fect also show a good therapeutic effect.关键词
