Outline of Digital Education:Connotation,Forms,and Scenarios

Abstract
The emerging trends in digital technology transformation,the new mission of constructing a digital China,and the growing demand for educational innovation and reform have collectively created a favorable external environment for the advancement of digital education.Digital education seeks to promote the deep integration of digital technologies with education,leveraging these technologies to foster new quality educational productivity,optimize the educational environment,resources,and tools,and address key areas such as teaching,learning,management,evaluation,and research.This approach aims to guide the evolution of education and teaching towards greater personalization,precision,and intelligence,with the ultimate goal of creating a high-quality,balanced,open and shared,personalized lifelong learning system,characterized by efficiency,flexibility,intelligence,innovation,sustainability,and security.The successful implementation of digital education requires reinforcing the foundational support in several areas,includ-ing policy advocacy,theoretical frameworks,technological empowerment,and ethical safeguards,thereby establishing a"new engine"for the development of digital education.It is crucial to recognize the key role played by essential elements such as the digital educa-tion environment,tools,content,resources,and data,which are central to driving the digital transformation of education.Moreover,the transformation and upgrading of core educational processes—such as learning,teaching,management,evaluation,and research—should be prioritized to establish a"new model"for digital education practice.Moving forward,the development of digital education will need to further explore the concept and models for cultivating new quality talents in the digital age,strengthen both theoretical and practical explorations in subject-specific digital education,identify representative forms of the deep integration of emerging digital technologies and educational practices,and foster an integrated collaborative innovation mechanism for digital education involving gov-ernment,industry,academia,research,and application.关键词
