干眼患者STRA6、MMP-2表达与干眼指标的相关性
Correlation between the Expression of STRA6 and MMP-2 in Dry Eye Patients and Dry Eye Indices

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the correlation between the expression levels of retinoic acid-inducible gene 6(STRA6)and matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2)in conjunctival epithelial cells(CEC)and tears of dry eye patients and dry eye indices.METHODS A total of 125 patients(125 eyes)with dry eye diagnosed and treated at Handan Eye Hospital from October 2022 to October 2023 were included as the observation group,and 125 healthy individuals(125 eyes)undergoing physical examinations at the same hospital during the same period were selected as the control group.The right eye of each participant from both groups was included in the study.After enrollment,the expression levels of STRA6 and MMP-2 in CEC and tears,as well as dry eye indices,were measured for all subjects.Study the correlation between the expression levels of STRA6 and MMP-2 in CEC and tears and dry eye indices.Analyze the diagnostic value of STRA6 and MMP-2 expression levels in CEC for dry eye.RESULTS(1)Expression levels of STRA6 in CEC and tears:The expression levels of STRA6 in CEC and tears in the observation group were higher than those in the control group,with statistically significant differences(tCEC=16.766,ttears=15.656,both P=0.000).(2)Expression levels of MMP-2 in CEC and tears:The expression levels of MMP-2 in CEC and tears in the observation group were higher than those in the control group,with statistically significant differences(tCEC=31.198,ttears=36.376,both P=0.000).(3)Dry eye indices:The tear film break up time(BUT)and Schirmer Ⅰ test(SⅠT)in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group,while the corneal fluorescence staining(FL)scores and ocular surface disease index(OSDI)scores were higher,with statistically significant differences(tBUT=23.440,tSⅠT=23.193,tFL=25.401,tOSDI=26.792,all P=0.000).(4)Correlation between the expression levels of STRA6 and MMP-2 in CEC and tears and dry eye indices in the observation group:The expression levels of STRA6 and MMP-2 in CEC and tears were negatively correlated with BUT and SⅠT and positively correlated with OSDI scores and FL scores,with statistically significant.(5)Diagnostic value of STRA6 and MMP-2 expression levels in CEC for dry eye:The combined diagnostic performance of STRA6 and MMP-2 expression levels in CEC for dry eye were higher than those of each indicator alone(ZSTRA6=2.715,P=0.007;ZMMP-2=2.225,P=0.026).CONCLUSIONS The expression levels of STRA6 and MMP-2 in CEC and tears of dry eye patients are increased and correlated with clinical indices related to dry eye,suggesting their potential as biological indicators for diagnosing dry eye.关键词
