Resource Dependence and External Coordination:Dissecting the Logic of Cooperatives Leading Weak and Scattered Farmers to Poverty Reduction and Income Increase:

Abstract
Helping rural populations achieve sustained income growth is one of the key tasks in promoting common prosperity for all.Farmer cooperatives play an important role in improving agricultural productivity and boosting farmers'income.Based on the theory of scale economies and the new endogenous growth theory,this paper uses the case study method to build a theoretical framework for cooperatives leading weak and scattered farmers to poverty reduction and income increase.By analyzing the practice of Cooperative W in Alar City,South Xinjiang,China,the paper dissects the underlying logic of how cooperatives integrate external forces and internal advantages to promote modern agricultural development and lead impoverished farmers toward poverty reduction and income increase.The study finds that:the leadership of local"capable individuals"is a prerequisite for cooperatives to link up local resources,local farmers,and external forces,leading farmers gradually transition to scaled operations;Through activating endogenous"dormant"resources and leveraging exogenous forces,cooperatives create opportunities for broader income growth and diversified livelihood sources for local impoverished farmers;The unified management of cooperatives enhances the organizational level of farmers,transforming the small-scale,low-efficiency operations of individual farmers;Moreover,the establishment of the"insurance+futures"risk guarantee mechanism stabilizes the interest linkage between cooperatives and member farmers,promoting the cooperative organization's cohesion and market competitiveness.关键词
