Abstract

The Baiyangcheng Channel is crucial for the safety of flood control in the downstream Chang-ping New Town.Affected by Typhoon Doksuri and other factors,the Haihe River Basin experienced the catastrophic"23·7"basin-wide flood,causing varying degrees of flood disasters in both the main and tributary rivers.Based on hydrological survey data,the characteristics of the"23·7"rainstorm flood in the Baiyangcheng Channel were analyzed using the method of recurrence interval.Additionally,the Bai-yangcheng flood detention area planning scheme was evaluated using the HEC-RAS model.The results showed that the recurrence interval for the maximum 1-hour and 6-hour rainfall in Baiyangcheng Chan-nel were no more than 5 years,while the recurrence interval for the maximum 24-hour and 72-hour rain-fall were 20~50 years and 50~100 years,respectively.The measured flow recurrence interval was less than 10 years.The superposition of mountain torrents and debris flows was the primary cause of water damage.Compared with the channel connection scheme,the side flood diversion plan for the flood deten-tion area was more economically and technically feasible.These findings provide valuable references for the construction of future flood detention basins.
