Timestamp-Free Bidirectional Hybrid Time Synchronization Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract
To address the problem of additional communication overhead caused by relying on a large number of synchronous message interactions to achieve time synchronization,a hybrid time synchronization algorithm based on timestamp-free and bidirectional information exchange mechanism is proposed for wireless sensor net-works,which does not require the construction of specific synchronization messages and saves communication energy consumption and transmission bandwidth.Firstly,a hybrid model for timestamp-free synchronous pro-cessing and bidirectional information exchange between master and slave nodes is established.Then,based on the maximum likelihood criterion,the relative frequency and phase offset of the clock are estimated and the Cramer's lower bound is derived.Finally,the synchronization errors in wireless sensor networks are optimized by using Kalman filtering.The simulation results show that the algorithm can not only accurately track the true values of node clock parameters,but also achieve a balance between energy consumption and synchronization accuracy,and its performance is significantly better than the traditional timestamp-free algorithm.关键词
