Abstract

To improve the frequency stability of the wind energy storage system in the power system primary frequency control,the flexible control of the energy storage system should be further explored and the frequency regulation ability is widely studied.In this paper,we explore the energy storage side converter and its control capability,analyze the relationship between the DC current and frequency of the energy storage side converter,and propose an improved primary frequency regulation strategy for wind energy storage systems synthetic inertia control.First,the energy storage is simulated to the inertia of synchronous machine.The energy storage side converter responds to the disturbance of the grid frequency through the change of DC current and provides inertia support to the power system to regulate the frequency.Second,inertial elements are introduced in the inertial response module to enhance system damping.Then,a small signal model of the new control is built to analyze its stability.Finally,the system simulation model is built on Matlab/Simulink.The wind storage system is set to be grid-connected with the infinity system,connecting the IEEE9 node system working condition to verify and evaluate the designed control strategy.Our simulation results show the energy storage side converter responds to the grid frequency change by DC current under the designed new control,effectively mitigating the grid frequency dip and improving the system stability.
