The optimization of intercity periodic train diagram considering balanced service and stop cooperation

Abstract
As the backbone of passenger travel in urban agglomerations,intercity railways play a significant role in promoting the movement of people and factors of production between cities.The periodic train operation diagram,which allows trains to run at equal time intervals with periodic regularity,can provide residents with more convenient travel services.To improve passenger travel efficiency by balancing the departure of service trains of each OD pair and reducing the train travel time,thereby enhancing the passenger service level of intercity railway's periodic train diagram.The model was based on a periodic time-space network and aimed to minimize the total train travel time while optimizing the balance of service trains for each OD pair.The model incorporated constraints on the minimum service frequency for each OD pair and the maximum travel time for each train.A heuristic algorithm based on arc-weight optimization of directed graphs was designed to solve the model.To account for the cost differences of trains using the same directed arc,the algorithm introduced a differentiated arc-weight strategy.This strategy applied different penalty weights to different trains on a directed arc,guiding trains to choose optimal operation paths.Finally,by using the Beijing-Tianjin intercity railway as a case study,the periodic train diagrams under single-objective optimization of time,single-objective optimization of OD service balance,optimization with fixed-stop,and optimization considering stop pattern were optimized.The results show improvements in overall benefits,with train travel time and OD service balance improving by 7%,36%,32%,and 38%,respectively,compared to the original train diagram.This study provides valuable insights for intercity railway management to further optimize periodic train diagrams and enhance passenger service quality.关键词
