Effects of Rosemary Extract on Laying Performance,Serum Indicators and Liver Lipid Metabolism of Laying Hens

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the effects of adding different levels of rosemary extract(RE)into diets on the laying performance,serum indicators and liver lipid metabolism of laying hens.A total of 504 sev-enteen-week-old Hy-Line grey laying hens with comparable body weight were selected and randomly assigned to four groups,each consisting of 6 replicates with 21 hens per replicate.Hens in control group(CON group)fed a basal diet,while those in experimental groups fed experimental diets which supplemented with RE at lev-els of 250(RE250 group),500(RE500 group)and 750 mg/kg(RE750 group)on the basis of the basal di-et.The pretrial period lasted for one week,followed by a formal trial period of ten weeks.The results showed as follows:1)adding different levels of RE into diets had no significant effect on laying rate(P＞0.05).At 180 days of age,the yolk color of the RE250 group was significantly higher than that of the CON group(P＜0.05).2)Compared with the CON group,serum high-density lipoprotein(HDL)content in RE250 and RE750 groups were significantly increased(P＜0.05).3)Compared with the CON group,the serum total an-tioxidant capacity(T-AOC)of the RE250 and RE500 groups was significantly increased(P＜0.05),and the serum superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity of the RE250 and RE750 groups was significantly increased(P＜0.05).4)Compared with the CON group,adding 250,500 and 750 mg/kg RE in diets significantly reduced serum interleukin-6(IL-6)content(P＜0.05).5)Compared with the CON group,the ratio of lipid droplets in liver of experimental groups decreased,and the mRNA relative expression level of liver lipoprotein lipase(LPL)of the RE250 and RE500 groups was significantly increased(P＜0.05),while the mRNA relative ex-pression level of liver fatty acid synthesis enzyme(FAS)of the RE250 and RE750 groups were significantly decreased(P＜0.05).In conclusion,adding RE into the diets has no significant effect on laying rate,but it can improve yolk color,anti-oxidative ability and immunity,and regulate liver lipid metabolism of laying hens.[Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition,2025,37(2):1011-1021]关键词
