Abstract

The article screened poly lactic acid(PLA)-degrading microorganisms from the gut of Tenebrio molitor,identified the strains and measured the degradation characteristics of the degrading bacteria.Tenebrio molitor was fed PLA powder for 60 days.Gut extracts of Tenebrio molitor were then inoculated onto solid media with PLA as the sole carbon source for enrichment,isolation and purification of degrading bacteria.Strains were identified via morphological observation and DNA sequencing,and their PLA degradation efficiency was evaluated under various nutrient conditions.A PLA-degrading strain,Fusarium genus LT-1,was isolated and identified as Fusarium spp.It achieved a PLA degradation rate of 10.55%after 40 days of shaking incubation in different media.The results showed that feeding PLA to Tenebrio molitor effectively altered its gut microbiome,and using the inorganic salt culture medium with PLA as the sole carbon source as a screening plate can quickly and efficiently screened PLA-degrading bacteria.The article provides a reference for the biodegradation of PLA plastics.
