Occurrence and Comprehensive Prevention and Control Suggestions of Major Sugarcane Diseases and Insect Pests in Laibin City,Guangxi

Abstract
In order to effectively understand the prevalence of pests and diseases in the sugarcane area of Laibin,Guangxi,and to enhance the overall prevention and control measures for these issues,this article adopts a method that combines field investigation and experience summary to research.It is found that sugarcane in the Laibin area is currently affected by various fungal diseases,including sugarcane smut,sugarcane pokkah boeng disease and red rot disease;bacterial diseases such as sugarcane leaf scald disease and ratoon stunting disease;and viral diseases,including sugarcane mosaic disease and yellow leaf virus disease.Additionally,the crop is also impacted by aboveground pests like sugarcane borers,woolly aphids,and thrips,as well as underground pests such as Alissonotum impressicolle Arrow and Dorysthenes granulosus Thomson.This article analyzes the current situation and damage characteristics of the main pests and diseases in the Laibin sugarcane area,noting that various measures have been adopted,including the use of disease-resistant and pest-resistant varieties,as well as agricultural,physical,chemical,and biological control methods.However,progress in the selection of resistant varieties and the early warning systems for pest and disease outbreaks remains slow.Issues such as insufficient monitoring,inadequate implementation of agricultural control measures,and poor coordination in the application of physical control methods continue to persist.Additionally,there are challenges related to the unscientific application of chemical control measures,low promotion of biological control strategies,and incomplete pest control response mechanisms.Therefore,targeted scientific prevention and control strategies are proposed to provide theoretical guidance for pest and disease management in this sugarcane area,as well as to serve as a reference for comprehensive pest and disease control in other sugarcane regions.关键词
