Testing the reliability and validity of the Self-Care Decisions Inventory-Chinese:a classical test theory and item response theory

Abstract
Objective To translate the Self-Care Decisions Inventory into Chinese and assess the reliability and validity of the Self-Care Decisions Inventory-Chinese using classical test theory and item response theory.Methods Following the Bris-lin translation model,the Self-Care Decisions Inventory was translated into Chinese version.From April to August 2024,a convenience sample of patients with chronic diseases treated in the outpatient or inpatient departments of the First Affiliated Hospital Zhejiang University School of Medicine were selected.The reliability and validity of the scale were evaluated using classical test theory and Rasch model from item response theory.Results The item-level content validity index of the Self-Care Decisions Inventory-Chinese ranged from 0.85 to 1.00,the scale-level content validity index/average was 0.95.Six main common factors with eigenvalues greater than 1 were extracted,accounting for a cumulative variance of 72.733％.All items had factor loadings greater than 0.50 on their respective factors.The Cronbach's α coefficient was 0.830,and the split-half coefficient was 0.820.The Cronbach's α coefficients for each subscale were all greater than 0.600.Rasch model analysis re-vealed that the estimated difficulty values for each item ranged from-1.50 to 2.47,with standard errors from 0.06 to 0.10.The reliability of each subscale ranged from 0.99 to 1.00,and the separation indices ranged from 9.21 to 17.68.Conclusion The Self-Care Decisions Inventory-Chinese demonstrates good reliability and validity,with moderate difficulty,and is capable of mea-suring the extent to which situational factors influence self-care decision-making among patients with chronic diseases.关键词
