Abstract

To investigate the temporal and statistical characteristics of temperature differences in bridge towers within the coastal regions,a year-long on-site temperature monitoring trial was conducted on the Quanzhou Bay high-speed railway cable-stayed bridge tower.By utilizing temperature data collected on-site and meteorological data,an analysis was performed on the temporal variations of temperature differences between the tower's inner and outer surfaces,as well as the linear temperature differences.Employing the Gradient boosting regression tree algorithm,predictive models for temperature at measurement points of the tower were established,generating historical temperature prediction values for the measurement points of the tower.Based on the principle of equivalent deformation,the annual extreme value samples of the bridge tower's cross-sectional linear temperature difference prediction values were computed and organized.By integrating the Maximum Entropy model and the Bootstrap method,the representative values of the tower's linear temperature differences at a hundred-year return period were determined.The results indicate that temperature differences between the inner and outer walls of the bridge tower consistently follow an exponential distribution.The sunlit side has higher temperature differences in winter,while the shaded side has higher temperature differences in summer.The highest linear temperature differences along the bridge axis and transverse to it occur during winter.Representative values of linear temperature differences for the hundred-year return period for both bridge axis and transverse directions are 6.24℃and 6.77℃,respectively.
