Research progress of Chinese medicine in regulating autophagy to treat Alzheimer's disease
摘要
Abstract
Alzheimer's disease(AD)is a common neurodegenerative disease disordered with hidden onset and intri-cate pathogenesis of the central nervous system,which poses a significant threat to the physical and mental well-being of the elderly.Currently,the drugs used in clinical treatment of AD primarily give priority to N-methyl-D-aspartate antagonistsmerely.However,which can only delay the progression of AD rather than providing a fundamental cure.Autophagy is a metabolic process regulated by lysosomes that maintains cellular homeostasis through clearance of aberrant proteins,numerous studies have indicated that autophagy can slow down or treat the disease effectively.In recent years,traditional Chinese medicine has emerged as a promising avenue for AD treatment due to its low toxicity profile and ability to target multiple pathways simultaneously.At the same time,they have been confirmed that various Chinese medicines can ef-fectively prevent and treat AD by regulating autophagy.Therefore,this article summarizes the related research achievements in recent years.It mainly elaborates the role of autophagy in the occurrence and development of AD,classifies and arranges traditional Chinese medicines that can regulate autophagy from the aspects of the deposition of misfolded proteins and cascade reactions,with the expectation of providing references for the development and application of new drugs and theoretical basis for the clinical treatment of AD.关键词
