Abstract

In order to choose high-yielding and high-quality fresh edible faba bean materials suitable for planting in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River,a total of 38 fresh edible faba beans were selected as the experimental ma-terials,and the yield and taste quality were determined and subjected to cluster analysis in Yangzhou University experi-mental farm in 2022 and 2023.The results showed significant differences in yield and taste quality among different faba bean materials,with a coefficient of variation of 30.66%for yield and 12.52%for comprehensive evaluation score of taste quality,respectively.The sweetness index played a decisive role in the comprehensive evaluation score of taste quality.Through the systematic clustering method,the 38 materials were classified into four categories:moderate yield and low comprehensive evaluation score of taste quality(Group Ⅰ),high yield and good performance in comprehensive evaluation score of taste quality(Group Ⅱ),high yield and moderate performance in taste quality(Group Ⅲ),low yield and good performance in comprehensive evaluation score of taste quality(Group Ⅳ).In Group Ⅱ,Cixi local variety,Tongyang lo-cal variety,and the hybridization of Dongtai local variety and the Yangzhou local variety,were the most remarkable in yield and taste quality.They could be adopted as materials for high-yield and high-quality production of fresh edible faba bean.
